The band divides its year into two seasons with two major concerts as well as appearances at community events. The fall season begins in September and ends with a winter concert in December. The spring season begins in January and ends with 4th of July.

Rehearsals are on Sundays from 6:00-7:30 at Culpeper Baptist Church and are open to all.

Performances are free and open to the public.

History: The Culpeper Community Band was founded as Piedmont Community Band in 2016 by Dave Detweiler, Lead Trumpet for the United States Army Band from 1973 to 2000, and Principal Trumpet for the National Symphony Orchestra Pops and the Smithsonian Masterworks Jazz Orchestra. His vision was to provide community music throughout the year through free performances.

The band changed its name to Culpeper Community Band in January 2026 and adopted a new strategic plan to bring Music for Life to the community.

Mission: The Culpeper Community Band provides meaningful musical experiences inclusive of the entire human lifespan.

Vision: To enrich lives and enhance the community through music.
